  1. Hey, I'll just start off saying I've never had or been in a car with heated seats but since acquiring the IS200 I find the heated seats to be a little finicky, although maybe this is how they work (Though I doubt it) So if I start the car and push in the button to turn on the heated seat sometimes it will come on and I can noticeably feel the heat and other times it seems like its not heating at all. Then some way through a drive I will feel it get really warm to a level I would expect them to work at and it will stay this warm for a few minutes then seemingly switch off. The passenger seat works in the same manner so I'm unsure if this is normal or a fault? Appreciate any input on this, Thanks.

  3. Hi all, I was wanting to know if anyone knows where I can obtain an update disc to the original Lexus IS200 Sat Nav ? The most up-to-date version I have is 2003/2004, and wanted to know if an original can be obtained at a resonable price ? In addition, is this easy to update ? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

  5. Hi all, In the next 12 months I hope to get a low mileage IS200 Sport, manual transmission for under £5000. I joined the forum to try and learn as much as I can before I commit to buying one. I've already read the buyer's guide, I just need some ideas on what is possible with them in terms of tuning, interior and sound etc. Cheers, Jake

  7. Looking to put an LSD into my IS200 se, how much would I be looking at paying and what is the procedure for removing and replacing the current open differential?
  8. Hey guys, Name's Michael, 27 years old. Born, raised and living a wonderful life in the Netherlands. I bought a black 2002 IS200 in October and I love it! Such a comfortable and good looking car. Had a Celica GT FOUR (ST205) before this and a Supra MKIV (n/a automatic) before that but wanted something decent. I bought a set of Varrstoen wheels but I haven't mounted them yet. Kinda looking for a decent set of coilovers or springs first. If anyone knows some for sale I'd love to check them out. The car's going in for a custom exhaust at the end of this month, so I'll get some pics/videos of that too. Anyways, hope to learn some new stuff here, looks like an awesome place to get started with my Lexus! -Michael

  10. Hi, I'm a new-ish member and completely new to this forum lark but I need to try something!! I have an '99 IS200 sport. I have gained a really bad squeak from the n/s Rear Wheel. I am a bit of a DIY guy and have spent years doing my own repairs etc... It seems that the ball joint on the upper wishbone is at fault as the rubber gaiter sealing the ball joint is split and, after forcing some light oil into the ball joint, the noise went away for a few days. What I need to know is where the hell can I get a new rear wishbone from?? Is it the same part number as the front upper wishbones? If so then would the ball joints for the front upper wishbones also fit the rear upper wishbones? You can purchase front upper wishbone ball joints from eBay relatively cheap and, with the use of a press, are relatively easy to replace. I cannot find part numbers or any reference to these parts in spare part retailers. Can someone please help me as it is really embarrassing driving down the road in my beloved Lexus and instead of people hearing the roar of my 6 cylinders they hear something that resembles my bed after a Saturday night on the pull. Thanks in advance for any help anybody can offer me.
  11. Hello everyone! My name is Charles, I'm 18 and from Hertfordshire. Currently, I don't actually own a Lexus but I am looking to buy a 2004ish manual IS200. Looking forward to owning my first Lexus! :) Any tips and hints would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  12. Hi, Does any body knows what bulbs are required for the heater control dials? Also how easy is it to get at them, I think it is radio out and go from there.
  13. So for the last few month I have been having problems with my 99' Lexus IS200. It seems that there was a problem with the alarm that has been setting is off at all hours of the morning. The only way I found around it was to leave my car unlocked over night, which wasn't very comforting. So I was reading around the forums for a fix but I couldn't find a clear solution for it. I found that it may be the motion sensor that was causing the problem but I couldn't find out if it could be disabled or how to disable it, so I went hunting. I decided that I would remove the roof lining and heat shrink all the wires as this may have been the problem. After pulling my entire roof apart I found that the motion sensor itself was inside the dome light and that it was as simple as unscrewing 3 screws and disconnecting a single harness. So if you are having the same problem try disconnecting it before you go ahead and waste a lot of time haha. I have only just disconnected the sensor so I'm not 100% sure if it is the problem but I'm certain that it is. I will post back in a few days telling you how I go. Disable motion sensor Time: 5 minutes Difficulty: Easy Motion sensor harness: The big circle is the motion sensor. The small circle is the harness to disconnect. Removing roof lining Time: 40 minutes Difficulty: Intermediate 1. Remove the A-pillar by gently pulling. 2. Remove the B-pillar by removing the seat belt cover, unbolt the 14mm seat belt bolt and gently pull the cover off. 3. Remove the C-pillar the same as the A-pillar. 4. Remove the map light by pulling down or prying it. 5. Remove dome light by removing the lens cover and unscrewing the 3 screws. 6. Remove rear-view mirror by prying the cover and removing the 2 screws. 7. Remove the sun visors by removing the 2 screws on the outer side, disconnect the harness and remove the screw holding the pivot point. 8. Remove the grab handles by removing the covers on the end of the handles and unbolt the 2 bolts on either end. 9. Remove the 2 push in clips near the rear window(sorry no pictures) 10. Remove the roof lining. The roof lining should now be completely free. The easiest way I found to get it out is by folding down the passengers seat and removing the liner through the rear passengers door. I hope this helps anyone who is having the same problem as me. If you have an questions feel free to post of pm me. If anyone is curious I may weigh some of the part for those wondering about weight stripping If you would like to see more photos click the link below: http://s839.photobucket.com/user/Matt_Shipman/library/Lexus%20IS200%20roof%20lining%20and%20alarm%20problem
  14. Hi, I've owned my IS200 for about 7 years, it's a 2001 x-reg with just under 105,000 on the clock. My wife is a bit scared to drive it after a couple of bad skids on ice (rear-wheel drive culpable, I think) but I still love it. However, I've recently thought I should p/x and buy a small used diesel like a Peugeot 206 to cut fuel bills. On reflection though, I thought I could maybe keep the IS and add an LPG system. I plan to emigrate in about 5 years time so I really only need the car (our second car - we have a bigger family car) to do about 50,000 more miles; my only worry is that it might have some major (expensive) problems in the next 50K? With its 100K service due (cam belt) and the LPG installation I'll be sinking roughly 2000 into the car which is less than buying a much newer Peugeot but if it has any major problems I don't want to keep pouring money into the IS when it's not worth any resale... Do you know of any common problems with the IS between 100K and 150K (or even 200K) miles? Does anyone have one that's been successfully converted to LPG? Thus far (touch wood!) I've not had any serious problems. It needs some reconditioned alloys and has been through lots of tires and twice has had problems starting (plus my key's snapped) but otherwise it's been bullet-proof. Any advice?? Thanks, Ben

  16. Hi all Thought I would come say hi as I have just purchased a Lexus IS200 on a V plate and loving it only issue I have had is a crack in the radiator the day after picking it up but new one on order and some K-Seal blocking the crack at present. Here are a few pictures now I have machine polished it and correct the paint best I can for its age Only things that need sorting is the rad of course, plus the wheels need referring thinking about doing them gloss black and the sat nav screen flickers a bit so need to source a new ribbon cable I think if that's possible to replace. What does everyone think?
  17. Hi, My IS200 ignition key is sticking badly, I have read about this as widely as I can but I have found conflicting opinion. It jammed very badly yesterday but after some wiggling and WD40 I got it to move again. What do you suggest?
  18. Hi All, this is my first post. I am the new owner of a lovely but quite well travelled 2001 IS200. She has 108k on the clock and drives beautifully. I have just driven out my first full tank. from 59L I did 349 miles. That is about 26mpg, In my experience Jap NA engines usually score close to their official specs. I was hoping for 29mpg or a bit more. Do you have any tips based on experience of IS200 that are drinkier than usual? My car has a FSH and has only ever visited 2 garages. She is almost due her next service. I thank you for your constructive input. Matt PS: Please no snarky "Buy a diesel remarks" I am a petrol head, I just don't want my car performing worse than it should be.
  19. Basically i was fixing my cd player, opened everything but i damaged the ribbon cable which connects the 6 cd changer to the controls. What can i do where can i get it from.
  20. Hi guys, new to the forum and the Lexus club... I am having an issue with my 1999 IS200. I bought the car around 2 weeks ago and everything was running smoothly up until a couple of days ago. I went to go out in the car and have lost acceleration, the engine management light is on, TCS light is flashing and my scantool is giving me error code P1633: ECM Malfunction (ETCS Circuit). I have tried clearing the code but as soon as I start the car the fault code comes back. I'm hoping someone can shed some light on what might be going wrong. Has anyone else had this problem and has anyone managed to solve the problem? I have googled for hours and hours but can't seem to find any kind of guide or information on how to solve this issue. I hope some one is able to help and apologise if this has been discussed in a previous thread.
  21. Hi guys, anybody know where I can get the above mentioned kit for my IS200 sport? Looking for much cheapness but price not really a problem.
