  2. If your car is an IS200 (GXE10) the most likely engine would be a 2-litre straight six (1G-FE) that has a drive-by-wire throttle. In which case the ECU adjusts the position of the throttle plate according to input from the throttle pedal position sensor and various other engine sensors. There are position sensors on the throttlebody itself to provide feedback to the ECU. If the car has a high mileage these sensors can wear to the point that they fail and no longer give the correct position signal to the ECU. Possibly this is what is happening on your car. The factory repair manual will have some calibration and test information for checking the sensor outputs, and your mechanic should be able to verify if they are operating correctly or not. Otherwise, it comes back to a vacuum leak. One test would be the manually apply some gentle pressure to the throttle operating linkage when the engine is idling high, and see if by pushing the linkage to close the throttle brings the idle down (temporarily). That would rule out a vacuum leak. Cheers...

  4. I’ve heard that in some cases, parking in a garage is more expensive because a lot get damaged putting it in.
  5. I daren’t say it but mine is unmarked after 9 months. Would it be soft? I tend to think hard would make it brittle and soft absorbent.
  6. Clown emoji because I decided I don’t want to spend £25k on a 10-15 year old Lexus…
  7. Update: Car was sold before I could call and arrange a viewing. Had to wait until I had the money but it was too late, the dealer was asking £4.000 for a 2010 black SE-L with ML and custom alloys. Really bummed about it, I fell in love with it... Search still goes on..
  8. A TPMS light on the dash is an MOT fail unfortunately. So you will need to sort it before your next MOT. As mentioned above changing the battery can be done as a DIY but it needs time. Like you will need to take the TPMS sesnor home and solder in the new cell. Its not an easy swap you can do at the tyre shop. You can consider ebay etc to find genuine sensors cheaper. Here is one such example https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/314744520503?itmmeta=01HZG5FVHP6MNND3Q0HH1M0ZCP&hash=item49483c3f37:g:wlkAAOSwNI9mK1~G&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA0GuK%2F%2BN6e0QBbvSWqRObXT0nK6--QeF08obMxMcQF06e3FRMUe%2F51Lk4zAIxbQc6yTiQAfnm3vNU2tzLZuUifFLT7j9Zh%2FykXDpjj3KFWZY%2FPxBUmTcxK1%2B43PjPxHhZmGm%2FAPShejypLlEfpeoZk%2F2QsZwYokrSLiatdZN%2BBmNM3DG447nNjf8BL5qNpI%2BGbgxLnAV7Era5LkI2gnjqb9tl5yGZ2%2BUDFenD3PBLw4nZ5XB1AYqj1zn59EWpgioUC%2BsKUtqhp6UHHX3wchZl1oQ%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR_S4v4X8Yw
  9. Hey. Im interested in your coilovers, however I am located in Malmö, southern Sweden. Would you be willing to ship them?
  10. Finally after almost a year ordering and receiving my Roadtop module from Aliexpress, I installed it. Took a few hours to do and wasn't as bad as expected. Been using for a over a month now and have thoroughly tested it out. My car has the premium Navigation, joystick and ML sound system. Module has equaliser settings adjustment so I tweaked it as best i could to get the best sound which is not bad at all as its coming via Aux. Theres an option on the module to use the OEM car blutooth for phone calls. I use this so call quality is perfect. The joystick controls are ok, you dont feel that haptic feedback when using it with OEM system. One you get used to it, its easy. Also you can use the arrow up and down to move and use the enter buttons to select. The steering wheel can change tracks but the voice control button for Siri doesn't seem to work. When pressed it uses the OEM voice control. However, its not needed because you can just say Siri and the system recognises it. The buttons to skip tracks on the centre console dont work with CarPlay. You can listen to OEM radio while using carplay but there wont be any Navigation alerts and Siri voice. What I noticed is as I have the premium Navigation with split screen. After install, I cant select anything on the right side of the OEM screen. The cursor bounces back to middle and left side. Not sure why this happens. I contacted the Roadtop customer services who gave me tips to try but didnt work. The roadtop CS were helpful to be fair and efficient in replying. I had never used Waze before installing CarPlay and have to say its great to use it on the screen just to see where the speed cameras, police, traffic, etc are located. The module is situated in the passenger footwell. I bought a USB to USB C cable so I could extend the length of the USB cable supplied. I wanted to feed the cable to the centre storage compartment but didnt have the tool to make a hole in it so in the end I just fed it out by the drivers seat and it can be hidden by that piece of material by the seatbelt lock. I cant think what else to write but if there is any questions, feel free to ask. Here are some photos.
  11. Unfortunately, Aaron, it’s not quite that straightforward. As I recall the video, the TPMS valve is a sealed unit and there’s no direct access to the battery. The unit has to be broken open to reveal the battery - which is wired in and encased in a thick, white gel to insulate it from road shock. It was not long after that I decided it was easier just to buy a new one! I bought my Lexus from them as a two-year old (that’s the car!) complete with a three-year service contract - which I have maintained. In my personal experience they have been exemplary in the quality of service provided. Occasionally I have used the Collect & Deliver facility, which has worked very well. The last two services were accompanied by a video tour of the car highlighting and commenting on the areas checked - which I found very reassuring. They also like to stay in contact to see if I’m interested in a new Lexus. Unfortunately, they sold me the best Lexus the first time!
  12. Sure. The first 6 months were offered by the car garage I purchased the LS from in November. I understand this cost the dealer around £650. My understanding is that they use the RAC warranty for all their customers as apposed to offering one themselves. The cover I was given was their Platinum cover and this is the policy I've had the height sensor and aircon compressor accepted on. A few weeks before my policy was due to expire, I received and email from RAC Warranty offering me to continue my cover, this time at Gold level, for 12 months for £450. From what I can ascertain, the only difference between gold and platinum is a max spend of £1000 vs £2000 per repair respectively. It does seem though, that the only way to have this cover for older cars is through a used purchase from a car dealer. I say that, as I just went to the RAC Warranty website and it's saying the cover offered there is only for cars up to 10 years old. Sorry for any elevated hopes; I didn't realise it's exclusivity!
  13. I was wondering if anyone with a Lexus IS uses a portable AA/CarPlay screen like this one you can get from Amazon? What are your experiences using it and where have you put it to seamlessly integrate it in the car? Please share pictures of your setup?
  14. Not quite! There is at least one EV saloon planned... https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/new-lexus-lf-zc-concept
  15. Thanks, but I have the Scorpion Can immobiliser and tracker, I don't think the plates will make much difference except more damage if the scrotes try to remove them.
  16. thats the one! seems a little wasteful and slightly annoying when a full set of sensors is gna set me back £200 from the look of it + whatever fitting comes to. Compared to a couple of packs of batteries for a tenner + fitment. Its not really an issue just 1 extra light on the dash, so I'll get the big 10 year service out the way first then sort them out after.
  17. He did mention he checked the rears but I'll go round them again and make sure they are all equal
  18. This RAC warranty sounds amazing …… can you explain a little more on its availability etc whatever ….. sounds brilliant and exceptional Thanks Malc
  19. Like what could he have done? Not taken care of the car you mean? I think normally electric issues is normally from factory. Car is probably a lemon. Could be the reason he sold it. He kept it for 2 years or so. So he also must have tried get along with the car. Who knows.
  20. Hi Mike, yes I got worried, I was thinking that you've been real quiet on this forum, I hope your okay, and the car looks great
  21. Hey she looks a great one ….. detail and piccys will be great too when you can Are you getting out and about in her ok …….. we’re a tad worried for you Mike Best wishes Malc
  22. Hey brother how did you power the sytem for this which fuse do I tap into?
  23. Left my LS430 in to get the driver side rear air suspension height sensor replaced tonight. I got quite a fright when my car started violently bouncing me in the car as the air suspension filled up to the max once the warning light came on. Thankfully the actual struts are absolutely fine and the height sensor, which cost over £600 is being covered by the 6 month RAC Platinum warranty I got with the car! The warranty has also agree to cover the air conditioning compressor that has failed; they have just asked my mechanic to strip it down and send photos as evidence (the actual part is obsolete buy my mechanic was able to source one for me). Really pleasantly surprised with the quality of the warranty cover. They offered me a further gold policy for 12 months for £450 which I've accepted.
  24. Would that be Lexus Milton Keynes?
  25. On the RAV4, the windows could be opened/closed with a long press of the lock/unlock button on the remote; this function had to be activated by the dealership.
