So my 2012 GS250 in Silver is showing serious age. The hood and front quarterpanels are in bad shape and I am thinking to wrap the car Not a fashion statement but rather an attempt to preserve the service life in a cost effective way Thoughts? advice? Thanks in advance

I am with Aviva online and when I got my car last September there was no extra to pay going from a HONDA HRV (£240). So when my renewal was up in February and especially reading a lot on the forum how much people was getting quoted I thought it was going to go up substantially. Got my renewal and it was £340 in February, last month I got an email saying that my renewal was incorrect and I thought it was going to go up but it went down to £337.

Thanks Colin, it was the lack of confirmation on the Thatcham website that bothered me, but as you say the insurers should know what is actually fitted. As you can see from this LINK under Toyota/Lexus cars, the LC is not listed which is what got me wondering..

That is why I would recommend staying away from Yuasa batteries, I have seen some people praising them, but I have now had 3 of them in second hand vehicles and they all died prematurely (before even 4 year warranty, I just couldn't use it as I wasn't the original buyer and didn't have the receipt). In my case they all seem to short internally somehow and drain themselves from the charge, so it is kind of slow drain, but if you leave the car for a week it barely starts. For me Vatra/Bosch S4 (seems to be same thing just different branding). Maybe we just don't drive them as much + older cars develop some electrical issues... not necessary faults, but combination of weaker and older alternator, with electrical system which is not as new and efficient, with shorter journeys less often, perhaps results in battery not being charged as much? Shouldn't be 8v, but I have seen them dropping to just under 12v which is barely enough to start the car (although that was with dreaded Yuasa batteries).

Yes, I'm sure all Lexus UK sold vehicles have a Cat 1 alarm/immobiliser as standard (despite gaps in the model information you can find online listing Thatcham approved devices). It's really down to your insurance company to tell you otherwise, they are the ones with the information on what is fitted as standard, not the owner 😞

Yup, parents you can't live with them and you (fill in the blanks as to your particular viewpoint on them). I was actually at the enlistment office clutching my birth certificate in my hand for the first time in my life before knew I had spent 18 years celebrating the wrong birth date ! In truth it is now and forever going to be unknown as to which day is the correct one 13th or 14th May ! I managed to code & initialise the replacement ECU and start the car - irritatingly code P3108 has returned, and there was no change to the screen etc, so I'm back on the original ECU for now whilst I have a think about where to go with this next😒

A question if I may. Can anyone confirm whether a LC500h is fitted with a Thatcham category 1 standard security device? I ask because I have just about renewed my car insurance and the application defaulted to saying such a device is fitted, but is that really the case? Would greatly appreciate any advice that might be available.

Never tried the voice command to change the modes However, the screen does have a shortcut area where the most used functions will end up - you can change it to SPORT directly from there so exactly 2 touches
