All I can advise that here in the UK a car that age and particularly that mileage/kilometre would be nearer 47k than 56k Euro. Typical examples are shown on the following link: Typical UK cars by mileage and age In fairness within Spain and perhaps elsewhere within Europe, that 56K might be the accepted norm but somehow I doubt it. In regards the other concerns, then within this forum there have been no reports of hybrid or battery problems. Lexus clearly have faith in their product when here in the UK they offer a 10 year warranty and the battery alone can be extended to 15 years if so desired, albeit I believe there might be a charge to do so. Whether that is also the case in Spain I wouldn't know but I do feel the battery is probably or can be covered by either some extended free or paid for warranty. I guess when you think about it one shouldn't be surprised that it has 117k kilometres for a 7 year old car, but when compared with the UK that price does seem very steep.

Hi Tony, we took our RX to France last year and had no difficulties with the assist features eg lane tracing, lane warning, headlights etc. However the car is supposed to recognise where you are and amend the speedometer to km/h (assuming it’s set to auto). Ours didn’t, so I had to manually adjust it- obviously a first world problem 😀. Hope you enjoy your trip

I have several uppercase letters in my password and @ as the token special character as I understand that other special characters can cause issues - ?!£$% etc. Only had the car since March, but after initial instabilities it seems to be OK now.

Like many others I had this issue having to sign in multiple times and also to the upper case problem. Touch wood but not had to sign in for over 6 months now - no idea how or why the issue went away. with regard to the upper case with mine I found that a very quick double tap brought up the capitals, took a few goes to get the timing right!!!!!

Hey hoping someone can help me with this please.............. Going to France next week and happy I dont need to do anything with the headlights, but what about the Heads Up Display system and the associated safety features like lane assist and any other features that might think I'm driving on the wrong side of the road? Do I need to do anything, or is my Lexus smarter than me and will just sort it out 😉 Thanks for any input.

Dear members, I found an LC 500h in Madrid , with 1 previous owner , all serviced at Lexus garage with 1 year of warranty for 56k EUro , made in 2017 and has 117000 km. Is it a good buy in your opinion - most of what i am afraid is issues with hybrid system and battery ? WHat else should i consider checking on the car ? Is the price a good one ...or I am over paying ? Thanks, N

You’ve brought a degree of happy humour to our proceedings and we’ve all understood quite fully what your Ls 400 is all about ……. unless you have more to impart that expands our horizons and knowledge If I didn’t understand and anticipate that one or both of my two Ls400s would outlast me I’d be up to the Borders like a shot and be happily driving her back to Kent …….. had yours appeared last August I’d have been very tempted and holidaying in Scotland I was at a crossroads and bored at that time and knew from my Indy that buying that 1965 S3 Bentley I’d hankered after for years would probably frustrate me with the likely constant “ breaking the bank “ syndrome AND being off the road and on a transporter to his works ……. so there we are, I bought my Mk1 at 97k miles and reminisced over my first Ls400 that I parted company with at 180k miles J54DAP These are wondrous cars and I sort of envy the next owner of yours ……. Mk1,2and 3 under my belt ……. your Mk4 is tempting 😂 Malc Reading today that a youngster in the USA is still driving at age 110 …….. I have similar issue. Drove to cabin few days ago and started to wonder why fuel consumption was almost 2l higher than normal. Started suspecting sticking breaks. When the journey was over, I touched the driver side break disk and it was boiling hot. Took the vehicle to the dealer and they said the piston was stuck. I need new piston, thankfully Lexus Relax will cover this item. Just need to wait about 2 weeks the parts to arrive. Until that I need to avoid any unnecessary driving not to bend the disks and save the pads. ym. 2015 Lexus IS 300h, 135k kms in odo.

How fickle this insurance business is, thanks for the lead, I did try Chris Knott today, but, they could only place my risk with Covea Insurance, at in excess of £3000. Harry took all my details, and I thought was doing okay, but at no point was I asked if I would pay any voluntary excess, and it ain’t my job to do his for him. Had enough now, sticking with Tesco or NFU!

I found the 4 hours of cheap electricity wasn't enough to fully charge the battery overnight using the 13A charger which was a pain. If you factor in the lower cost power overnight for domestic use as well like running the dishwasher etc. the cost of a charger doesn't seem so onerous. I do find it strange that the Lexus doesn't provide both a start and stop time for charging.

It's been discussed on here before. Someone should have the details on it. The guy who bought mine last month mentioned it had new tyres (budget brand) and new brakes. It's been sat with this dealer for a while.

Anyone got any experience/test driven/know about that USB 2010 ISF that is listed on AT? Reg EO10KXH. It has been listed for over a year, a few price reductions that I can see, but it is not budging. Presumably there is something up with it? Or just strong money for a 'mid-facelift' (no new instrument cluster or DRLs but has updated infotainment with DAB/LSD etc.)

I posted the following in August last year based on numbers from that site. It shows that for the UK total numbers on the road were as follows: LS400 (1989 to 1996) peaked at 5.3k and the LS400 Auto (1997-2000) peaked at 2.3k which gives a UK total of 7.6k across 11 years (1989-2000). For the LS430 (2000-2006) that number was 2.4k. For the LS460 (2007-2017) that number was 849. For the LS600 (2007-2017) that number was 564. For the LS500 (2017-2023) that number was 122. So 674 out of 849 is a pretty good survival rate.

It's actually quite a useful feature to have. On my current Lexus, water is sprayed onto the headlights in sync with the windscreen wipers. Old Volvo's (760, 940 etc) had headlight washers with wipers which were a nice feature. Just wondering about your 68 years of non incident driving - were you driving at 12 years old?

Finally got the coilovers on a couple of days ago. That meant I was able to put my new wheels on. I got them last week, so I spent my Saturday painting the black parts of the wheels as the factory finish is half and half. Shiny spokes with black spokes. I wasn't a fan of that. Black wheels lose all the design details and I just don't like it personally. They're factory forged wheels off the new MK5 Supra. I had to use PCD adapters as Supra, as well as probably all German cars these days are 5x112. So the specs I managed to squeeze on are: 19x9 ET7 and 19x10 ET15. Still need to roll the arches to stop it from rubbing and then I'll be able to lower the front a bit more. Only got one decent pic at the moment, but more will follow.

….thank you Malcolm for your raising the 1997 - 2000 Lexus LS 400 headlamp polycarbonate (?) issue. yes, when I purchased The Car the headlamp lens’s were, indeed, obscure / cloudly. £45 later all returned (and have remained since) as new ! follow-on info refers: anthony ps: £750 now for the ceramic wax prep and application !
