Windscreen Help

I was doing some work on my lads car yesterday - had to replace the heater control unit as the fan in the car was blowing continuous hot air.

Its not a Lexus - its a KA - I am just looking for a bit of information on this as its not clear from looking through the web ...

I noticed a large crack on his windscreen (how he didn't notice it before beats me... teenagers !!!) - I have circled it in the picture and have indicated the size of the crack in yellow.

Basically is this an MOT failure?

Apparently it is. My wife had a similar one and we were told that if the crack comes above the wiper it's a failure.

Ah well - I thought it might be as its quite a big crack ...

I have spent more on his car in the past two months than I have on my own in the past 2 years !!
