I have a wheel noise coming from front off side, its more obvious on some road surfaces, tyre pressures 38psi good treads. I've jacked up the car and there is no movement wheel on hub, ie pulling and pushing top & bottom of the wheel.

Any suggestions please. Mikel

Hi Colin, Happy New Year, when I spin the wheel there is a very faint whisper as though the pad is brushing the disc so faint you can hardly hear it, pads were renewed 1500 miles ago. the wheel spins very freely. Any thoughts ?

(I will collect the vsc very shortly and square up any consultation or storage fees !)

Many thanks Mikel

I

I have reduced tyre pressures, I drove about 300 miles yesterday part motorway part Peak, I still have a weird noise front offside different road surfaces effect it though. Steering perfect. It is not a constant sound it increases and decreases every few revolutions.

I'VE JUST HAD MAJOR SERVICE,NEW CAM BELT. FRONT BALL JOINTS AND FOUR WHEEL ALINEMENT CARRIED OUT. I WAS ADVISED BY THE MECHANIC MY CAR IS IN PRETTY GOOD NICK BUT I STILL HAVE THIS FRONT WHEEL NOISE. THE MECHANIC (SORRY ENGINEER) SAYS IT IS DUE TO FEATHERING OF THE TYRE AND WHEN REPLACED IT WILL GO..... HE SUGGESTED WHEN REPLACING THE TYRES NOT TO GO FOR THE STUNNER SCUDO'S WHICH HAVE JUST BEEN PUT ON THE BACK, TO GO FOR BRIDGESTONES OR MICHELINS. I SAID I ONLY PAID £170 FITTED AND BALANCED FOR THE REAR TYRES AS APPOSED TO £145 EACH TO WHICH HE REPLIED "YOU ARE DRIVING A LEXUS". i SUPPOSE THERE IS NO ANSWER TO THAT.

The best tyres are = Goodyear Eagle F1 - 120 quid each. Unbelieable, even on greasy wet roads I can do 6500rpm without wheel spin. The old P6000's could never handle that.

38psi is too high for road, it should be 33psi. For track use you could go to 45psi.
