Right, sold my IS so i'm on the hunt. I'm looking at quite a range of ages and considering the GS300 / 450h

Does anyone know why the style of this navi screen looks so old and lo res (this is a 56 300), did they put a different system in the early cars or is it because it doesn't have the Mark Levinson?

Answered my own question I think - this was a Gen 3 navigation system and I was used to a Gen 4. Apparently its a plug and play replacement if you can find a doner gen 4 box.

Navigation system in Lexus is not so "modern" like those you can find in other brand cars, nonetheless it works well, for sure it's not a reason to choose a Lexus; also navigation maps updates are rather expensive.

For now, i've scrubbed all 05 and 06 GS models from my shortlist of viewings tomorrow. The Gen 4 as i had in my IS was a really good system and still looked smart.

From the pics, it looks like 07+ GS do have the Gen 4

After a long day round London I couldn't find an older low mileage car in a condition I was happy with, so went for a much higher mileage more recent car.

It seems for whatever reason age is not so kind to the GS whereas this was no problem for the IS.
