Bought 2000 IS200, just freed front caliper pistons

Hi everyone :) I have just bought a 2000 I think IS200 for not much and am sorting it out. I am a Royal Academy Hons Graduate, piano, violin/keys 1. Because we only earn a profit of about £50 per orchestral gig I'm poor, and also as I love engineering I'm a home mechanic. I also perform solo for weddings and concerts :)  If anyone would like any tips after I sort each item just let me know, in future I'll try to video the repairs for youtube.  The front brakes were seized on. So we jacked the front end of the car up, used axle stands and old car wheels under the sills, as I don't want to die under a car, or brake my car when it falls off a jack ;) 2) we unbolted the 1/2 of the caliper which has the pipe going into it 3) we supported this to stop damage to pipe etc. 4) using a HUGE C or G clamp ( whatever it's called) we swore a lot and tried to wind the pistons back into a caliper. You can crack the bleed screw to make this easier (maybe). 5) this didn't work, so using the giant clamps to stop pistons shooting off, we carefully 'limited' the pistons forward movement, pumped pedal and got them out as far as we could. 6) we eased back rubber dust cover, and gently removed uneven corrosion ( use flat blade of screw driver with skill and care, and very fine wet and dry forming a  semi circular shape with your hand. 7) we drank coffee and swore lots more. 8) we used spray silicon grease getting right into the mating surfaces of pistons and barrels. 9) we gently tried to turn the pistons ( no idea if this causes the world to end, but I don't think so) a little using a mole wrench on the very end of the piston only,  NOT the bit that has to be a tight and smooth fit in the barrel. 9) more coffee then we wound the barrels back using the clamps. 10) used a very thin, very even coating of copper ease on all slidding surfaces: behind rubber gaskets of sliding mechanism, on barrell ends, back of pads etc. then we had to move them forwards using pedal (engine off) and wind back x 5 until movement correct. 11) cleaned any wd40/much from discs and tested that the brakes work and release. 12) refitted road wheels, and lowered car and test drove it LOVELY :) Next full service at home, followed by paying someone to respray allows and bumpers :)

Hi Andrew and welcome to the LOC, we are a friendly bunch and some of us even know how to pull them to bits and put them back together again, with of course the one bolt and washer left over. Great to have another muso onboard, my poison is Jazz & Blues.
