Is 300h or a Merc? High mieage long runs =MPG?

not a bad choice between these 2. both good cars, merc a little less exclusive but whatever you choose you wont regret it.

guess it will be down to personal preference and emotion. which of these cars tells you - i want this - .

Im now considering the E220 as well from merc, as its brand new it comes with alot of nice toys, the engine being a new 2 litre bi turbo is 194bhp but claimed at 73 mpg.  Its all little more at £38,500 for the model i looked at and to compare i guess its closer to the GS model rather than the LS.  I still have a little time so i plan on taking all three out for a drive at some point

The E is infinitely better than a C class IMO. However, it is on the larger side and you should really be looking at the GS too if you're considering the Merc E220.

The Merc will get the better MPG on motorway runs, not 73mpg mind but you should get 50-60mpg.

Definitely consider a GS300h as well, it has some toys which might be useful if you're doing long runs such as the adaptive cruise control as standard (makes motorway journeys so nice!)

The only problem with the Merc is the endless list of options, Lexus usually comes with a lot of kit as standard which is extra on the E class including the adaptive cruise control.

Might be worth checking Broadspeed out as well, they're giving HUGE discounts off both IS and GS
