Hi all, My gs450h 's AC system doesnt work. There is a leak, and the system doesnt hold pressure.

When i switch the AC button on, i don't hear any difference in engine note, but then these hybrids don't have rev counters, and don't rev like standard petrol car when in neutral.

Would the compressor itself be the source of a leak, through a seal maybe? I'm sure the condensor is a possibility as well

I have techstream software, is this likely to help though?

Also, is the AC compressor powered by a drivebelt, or by the traction Battery

Is a compressor swap a big job?

thanks

Thanks ambrosejohn.

Is there any way i can test the compressor in situ?

or indeed, if i remove it? will it power up on a 12v feed?

I just don't want to buy another compressor (£200 second hand), before i know for sure that its the cause.

I do have code B1423, 'open in pressure sensor circuit/unusual refrigerant pressure', which i kind of guessed beforehand.

Where would you go from here?

cheers

Most garages will check your system for leaks. It could be something simple, like a loose joint.

It may just need re-gassing. They check for leaks during the process because they're not allowed to put refrigerant into a system with a leak.

They did, but because of all the covers and trims, and they were quite busy, they only could get at some parts of the condenser, and didn't see any dye, though visibility wasnt great. Would the dye still be present, 2/3 months on? I have a UV light and more time than they do, to thoroughly check? cheers
