Lexus SC 430 ecru leather seat/interior touch up

Hey everyone,

Following my last post, I took the plunge to attempt to touch up my leather interior of my 2004 SC430.

I used the Rutland touch up leather dye and after watching a few YT videos I did my first coat.

I made a short video of the before and after the process, I am quite pleased with the results (& how well the ecru drivers seat looks now).

I think I will need to do another couple of coats to bring the interior back to a higher standard.

I want to say a special thanks to Neil for his help, he gave me reassurance for buying the Rutland leather dye.
Here is my video I made on my SC430 leather seat touch up, I hope this helps any owners thinking about doing this touch up.

Thomas 🙂

Hi Thomas. Im in the same boat with an interior that is by far the worse of all my previous Lexus.

Do you have a Linky to the product you used please?

I can only find Ecru dye via eBay USA.

Thanks.

Thomas is a nice guy but I believe he has has sold his SC now and may not visit this site now.

Hopefully if you message him through his latest YouTube video, I would thing he will respond.

Please post your reply as I am interested in the results too.

Anthony

I think it's still called Rutland Cream or Rutland Ivory depending on the supplier.

Gliptone are one company that should be able to help but there are others that can custom colour match the leather.

It can be applied with a sponge but it's best to take the seats out, clean, and prep them and then spray the dye on with a spray gun. If you have the tools and plenty of time it's not that difficult to do and quite satisfying, otherwise a decent car upholstery outfit should be able to restore it.

Cheers everyone.

I got it quite close with Ivory. The seats are coming out to do it.

Looking at the drivers seat, it looks like someone has tried before.

Preparation is the key so I'm quite looking forward to the challenge. Been spraying paint for years so I can't see it being too difficult to apply.
