Hi I used this video as a guide (https://youtu.be/R61_qAGhdpI) I ordered the parts needed from Crutchfield in the US. Price for parts and shipping around £200 plus price of unit. It does all that a modern unit will do Carplay and Android Auto etc.

Is the trim around the stereo bespoke to that stereo? Or, can the trim be paired to any double-din unit to increase the range of stereos under consideration?

You can use any double din stereo. Mine fitted perfectly but I have read that some might need a small amount of trimming.
