Fold mirrors when locking after market option

Hi Notamech, if you are double clicking to fold, then assume you did not do the wire switch for LH drive (UK). Still works I think but the long gap issue could be related to this.

I haven't replaced my cable since I had battery issues (which in the end I think was just the battery was old not related to this cable) but agree, that plug was a bit fat and it is hard to get the doorcard perfectly flush, shame they didn't make it thinner. You might be able to cut away (Dremel) some of the inside of the doorcard to get it to fit, or if really ambitious rewire the whole thing into a chock-block that is low profile enough to fit nicely.

Yeah I didn't tamper with the wires just used the loom that came with it. Im ok to press twice to fold the mirrors. Anyway will try to see what csn be done to ensure the door card fits flush. Its better now once all the screws are back but there is still a gap. Will try to see if theres another place i can tuck it.

Nice one. Yes if you have some success share a piccie so we can see. When the weather picks up in spring I'm thinking of refitting mine (so if I have a battery/alarm issue again, although unlikely, easier to deal with). Would be good to know so I can get mine flush next time around.

Tried again today and no luck i even tried unhooking the main factory loom from its holder see pic to have more flexibility and room to play around but the distance between the 2 chinese connectors is so less that it didn't help much. One option that i could see working is making a hole in the plastic sheet on the door and tuck it in there. But i am reluctant to do that. I don't want to do something irreversible. So for now i guess il just live with the door card not sitting flush. Its not too bad but still bothers me when i see it.  For anyone else struggling to place the unit itself see pic 3 to see where i placed it. I initially struggled with this too but managed to figure it out.

Just an update on this. I finally sorted this out today and now the door panel sits flush. As mentioned in my previous post I unhooked the black loom from the white plastic hook (you just need to lift it up to slide it out of the hook) that should give you enough room to move the cabling closer to the middle of the door. Also I realised some of my clips were broken and bent out of shape from my previous attempts.. so i ordered new ones on eBay and replaced them now the door panel sits flush and im really happy I installed this unit. Its super convenient and if i want to check if my car is locked i just need to look to see if the mirrors have closed

I did this on my car just after I got it it’s much better having the mirrors folded in when in car parks and it soon gets easy to remember to double lock the doors, it’s also easier to see that the doors stay locked when I turn the key fob off because when I first got the car I found sometimes I unlocked the car when turning fob off.
