Recommended Posts

hey everyone, i'm a new member and haven't been on the site before so hope this question hasen't been asked too many times but why is the altezza a tuned 4 cylinder 16 valve instead of a tuned 6 cylinder 24 valve? also, what tuning potential is there for the 6 cylinder....what exactly makes the altezza faster- is it ported polished, bigger throttle body or something....hoping somebody can offere me some answers, cheers!

Basically, the 4 cylinder is an easier engine to get 200bhp (NA) out of.. whereas the 6 cylinder, although not as tuneable, is smoother, and generally can develop more torque (NA)..

The 4 cylinder engine is a newer design and has had more R&D into it which is why it produces more power. Most of it's power however is high up the rev range and therefore is not really 'Lexus'

The 6 cylinder engine is used in it's market because it is smooth however it is poor on fuel and emissions and as with most small 6 cylinder engines is not good on low down torque.

so tte compressor is best bet? i read it gives 32% more power or something? how does it work? and how much is it? and since i'm on a role asking questions- does the lexus is200 sport with the lsd do doughnuts....ooh and one last question- what does the is200 sport do 0-60- i read 9.5 but thats to 62mph which i assume involves a third gear change near the 60 mark- does it do 8s to 60mph?....appreciate any info!! cheers

There would be something like 0.3s difference between 0-60 and 0-62 if there is no extra gearchange is needed.

The TTE supercharger is around £3000 + fitting.
