Brakes - Wrong pads, right discs?

Hi all,

I've inherited a Lexus IS250 so I had it in for a full service, MOT and had the rear discs and pads changed last night. 

Looking at the pads they've added, they only seem to cover half the disc of the brake disc. I've attached 2 pictures. 

You can see that after 30 mile a line on the discs where the pads are touching.

Have they fitted incorrect-size pads, which will eventually create disc pitting?

Quite possible D. An easy mistake to make or an incompetent one.

Hi Dan  I have recently fitted new discs and pads to mine ;that does not seem much different to the ones I fitted ,they leave about 9 m/m clear unswept as did the ones I replaced ,what year is the Lexus ,that looks like the later model with vented discs ,same as mine ,I think they are OK but its worth asking the question  of the garage for your peace of mind

Looks normal. Although it appears there are no shims fitted to the pads.
