RX400h key fob button programming problems

Recommended Posts

Hello all. Wondering if someone has any ideas on where I'm going wrong?!

I have a 2006 RX400h with electric tailgate so 3 button remote. I have the master key but want another for a spare.

The master has had the casing changed so there are no FCC id numbers on the back and to make matters worse the Battery cover when the key carcass is open is missing which also should display the required info!

this is a picture of my master circuit board.IMG_20230624_095009.thumb.jpg.3f0c39125a4f497a4bfe005b7b56dd8d.jpg

I bought a key from China and using techstream managed to program the immobilizer side 4d68 transponder. So now the ready light comes on and the car runs. But I am really struggling to program the buttons. I have used techstream again to do this and it will not register the key when pressing buttons. The frequency is 314/315 MHz on the new key fob. I have read that 433mhz is also used? Could this be the problem?

I have ordered one so will report if it works.

I have also read that USA uses different frequencies?

So purchasing one from there may not work.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Sort of having the same problem

So I have 3 keys – a master that I re-batteried and now works. Two re-cut keys from eBay with remote guts. Dropped in chipped 4d68 transponders – so they now also start the car. Remote FOB remains a problem – tried to get TIS to wipe the existing remotes (maximum 4 or is 5 are programmed in) from the system but it refused to clear them so I could reprogram in the new ones. I will double check the UK frequency requirements.

I had 3 remotes registered when I checked in tis. I only have 1 master key so I selected delete all registered remotes. The master was in the ignition and switch two places, ready light is the 3rd place so to far. I then erased or de registered all remotes and when prompted pressed the lock and unlock for 1 second then lock for 1 second. You hear a single beep. I did this with the master in the ignition.

When I rechecked it had only 1 remote registered, my master.

Yes, will try again – but it went through the routine and then dumped a cannot delete message (and I have tried the door shimmy to no avail)

Will order and report back. Thanks for help chaps

Hello all. Just a quick update.

Received my 433mhz remote ECU today.

Put a transponder in it that was already programmed and registered the new key with techstream without any problems.

Happy days.
