Can you or “ an expert “  tell if the notches are “ out “ without dismantling it all ?

Would need to be partially dismantle to see the timing marks on crankshaft and camshafts. Sadly that’s the job over half done .

This was my first SC that I done the belt on….turns out it had already been replaced 🙄

Uncle Bob is our expert in Kent. In NZ for all things UZ there is Kelvin of the Car Tune Company. He doesn't have the same rockstar image as Bob but his vids are very good.

I've watched lots of Kelvin's youtube content. He really knows his stuff.

He intimated a 30 minute job to discover if the belt is mis-aligned.

I've been looking through the history and find that a Lambda sensor was replaced at the last major service in December 2022, and a note suggests if the light returns "seek specialist"...
I wonder if this may be a Cat issue?

So I thought I'd make a start on the non operational radio head unit.
I found a manual for the unit 86120-24420 Toyota/Pioneer.
It was easy to remove suggesting things had been out before, and some bluetac on one of the deepest bolts confirmed my theory! The hardest task disconnecting the radio reveal switch in the gear shift panel, especially with cold hands.
I found a detailed manual on the Czech Lexus Owners Club and joining became the hardest task so far :wink3:
On getting in there, I see that someone, hopefully more professional had disconnected the Tyre Pressure Module. At least they wrapped the plug in a small plastic bag....

I had previously contacted Chris at SVT Services, who I found recommended here on the LOC as offering repairs to Mark Levinson systems.
He has been forced to close his old premises due to Coughid but has re-emerged as Bose repair experts. He still offers a repair service but only to the Amplifier section not the Head Unit which I require. It doesn't switch on, with no sign of life. The car has been jump started, and a new Battery fitted prior to my ownership, so maybe it is frizzled, or possibly just in anti-theft mode?

I have since found Dave Car Audio Medics in Aylesford in Kent who does offer a repair service.

Blimey Aylesford's a long way for you …… been thru there today 

The ICE “ specialists “ I approached in Kent, all over, a year or two back were absolutely a DEADLOSS 

Not one inspired my confidence on the phone !

Well, things are looking up. 5A fuse definitely blown.

Just a thought …you could fit one of these and feed it to the outside of the case, just in case it blows again 👍🏻

Progress. After putting the radio into the car, the CD Disc changer cycled through all 6 trays, but I couldn't get it to switch on.
I inspected the loom and found some unusual larger diameter wires taped in which ran down the transmission tunnel towards the boot and amp area I presumed.
Well a quick tug, and out came the ends with a couple of spade connectors on them. Aha!
Remembering back to an earlier post in which I felt it could be a power save switch for when the car was not in regular use.
I connected the 2 ends together and success...

Short-lived sadly.
I tuned the radio in about 10 stations, enjoying the sounds, then the audio stopped, then the display started flashing. Hang on. The Battery was flat. Not enough to turn the starter motor :wallbash:

On a happier note. 
I visited Paul (ToyotaTech Guildford) this morning. Due to no current MOT I needed to trailer it there obviously. 
Since changing the valve solenoid the only codes were the misfire on bank 2, thats cylinders 2, 4, 6 & 8.
First thing to check was the suspected timing belt. This had been replaced 12,000 miles ago. 
sure enough it was 3 teeth astray. 
within 30 minutes she was purring like a kitten. 

A quick reset of the VSC ABS in fact the Yaw Rate sensor and she’s good as new.

sure enough it was 3 teeth astray. ". Please forgive my technical ignorance but does that mean the belt was not fitted correctly to begin with, or is it something that can happen over time?

Have heard of another belt jumping that was a recently replaced item, all a bit odd as it has a hydraulic tensioner so sets its own tension. Let’s hope it’s not a new problem .
