I am writing from Italy, and have joined your forum as we do not have anything similar in our country.

Last Friday I got my new GS430 (model 2006), and I have been driving it for approx 1.000kms.

I love this car, and would like to exhance some impressions and suggestions with other owners.

Is there anybody who can join me on this topic?

:D Hi Claudio, nice cars these new GS's, I have the GS300SE, and it is very nice to drive, I have covered 1800 Miles so far and the economy is very good, performance very good also. Nice to have you in the LOC.

Hi John,

I cannot say the economy is particularly good on the V8. With a full tank, I can cover only 500kms, and fuel is very expensive here in Italy.

Apart from this, it is really a smooth car which can also be quite fast.

I have only a few remarks, and I would appreciate your comments on them.

The FM radio reception does not seem very good. My previous BMW was working a bit better.

I have asked to my dealer whether it is possible to control the lights with the start button. I am not sure I am using the right English words, but I would like to keep the car lights on (the Xenon ones) when I am driving, without having to remember to put them off when I park and stop the engine.

I thought it was a simple programming matter, but the dealer is saying it is not possible. Do you have any chance to ask to your local dealer?

Apart from this, do you know of any other website that could be interesting?

claudioc, I don't think you can program the lights to stay on, The Lexus USA site is available through this site, they may have information for you that may be of interest, 500kilometers= 20 MPG, thats not too bad if the tank only holds 70 Ltrs.

My car has some good performance in it, when you slip it in sports mode. My FM radio is giving exellent sound quality!!:P

Funny you should say that Claudio but I've just got a MKII GS300 and find the FM reception very bad compared to my previous BMW 7. I am going to get the dealer to check it out, but very often it can lose stereo on very strong local stations and almost all the time I have to have the volume turned much higher than for the CD player. The aerial for my BMW was built into the rear screen demister and worked brilliantly

Hi Mike,

I will ask my dealer to check the Radio as well. The sound performance is fine, it is the reception of stations which is not brilliant. I could get a stronger signal with the BMW (I had a 328) and I am using the new car in the same area as the previous.

I will let you know if I get any better next week, when I will bring the car to the dealer.

Regarding Petrol consumption, I spoke with the dealer and he said it will probably get better after approx 2.000kms. I will check this as well.

ciao

Mike, I have had my Radio changed by the local dealer. And both sound and reception of radio stations are greatly improved.

The dealer explained this saying that the Radio is originally being set for the USA type of broadcasting. Ordering the replacement, we got the correct Radio set for Europe.

The difference is significant, and surely worth a try.

Claudio,

www.clublexus.com is an awesome site. My wife is about to kick me out of the house because I've been on it since I discovered it 2 days ago.

Hi Wigalo,

this is really good. I just had a look and the post "Some hidden function/menu on the GS!( 56K beware)" is really great stuff to look at.

Thanks,

Claudio
