Smokey Altezza

Hi Guys Help Needed

I have a 2000 model 50,000ml Altezza that uses 1ltr of oil per 100miles, but does not smoke continually, it just has a smokey fit now and again. It does smoke a little on startup from cold, and will often smoke badly for a few seconds when started from hot, and then sometimes while driving normally it will belch out smoke so thick i cant see the road behind in my mirror. ( No i haven't put diesel in it, just in case you ask).

Can anyone suggest what may be causing this.

Ooooh, another Altezza owner in Milton Keynes :winky:

Yep, sounds like you need some major work there, stemseals could be gone..

What colour is the smoke?

If its black its probably too rich, white too lean and possibly check the water level too... If its Blue then engine will be needing some TLC

Stem seals sound like the problem with the smoke on start-up.

Big clouds when running, you lift off the throttle and you go into overrun could well be piston rings :crybaby:
