Woke up today to find car has scrape on side of rear bumper. Should be able to t-cut most of the white paint of the other car, but some deeper damage. You can see the black primer.

Are Chipsaway etc. any good with metallic paint jobs like this one? Anyone done it on their Lexus? I hear it looks good for 6 months only.

Or should I just try and fix it with touch up paint?

Sorry to hear that mate, your not having much luck with your new motor!

Personally, if it's noticeable to you and you want it done. Get a proper bodyshop to spray the whole bumper.

I'd steer clear of mobile jobs.

I find T-cut works very finely. I have scratches on my front bumpber. I used T-cut but worked only slightly. If the scratches and scrapes are more prominent than you probably need to spend hours and use your skills as an expert and have the correct know how and experience. In the end I also used some touch-up paint with the T-cut but again works only a little. The black primer has to be a paint job.

If you can see the black primer there is no amount of polishing/buffing that is going to make it better. I got the whole bumper on my GS sprayed after some scuffs as mobile repairs on my old IS didn't look too good after a few months.

I would expect to pay about £120 - £150 for a decent independent bodyshop to spray a bumper. Lexus dealers would be quite a bit more.

Cheers,

Sandeep
