1990 Celsior/ls400 Key Programing

Recommended Posts

I've had the car for about 1 month, I'm having a bit of trouble with the remote locking and unlocking button on the key. it doesn't seem to operate what ever i do no response and the switch for the remote lock inside the car is set to the on position. I also boughta new Battery.

I followed these steps but no response from the car:

Keyless Entry Remote Transmitter Activation Procedure:

1. Start with the following conditions: Key is out of the ignition, Driver door is open (all other doors are closed) and Driver door is unlocked (other door don’t matter).

2. Insert the key into the ignition (don’t turn it) and pull it out.

3. Perform these steps within 40 seconds:

a. Using the power lock/unlock switch on the driver’s door, perform 5 lock/unlock cycles starting with lock (a lock/unlock cycle consists of pressing the power lock switch, followed by pressing the power unlock switch on the driver’s door panel. Use an even pace and try to go relatively fast).

b. Close, then open the drivers door.

4. Perform these steps within 40 seconds:

a. Using the power lock/unlock switch on the driver’s door, perform 5 lock/unlock cycles starting with lock (just as you did previously).

b. Insert the key in the ignition cylinder. Turn the ignition to ON (as far as you can go without cranking your engine), then back to OFF.

c. Remove the key from the ignition. Within 3 seconds, the power door locks should cycle (lock then unlock) twice automatically indicating successful entry into programming mode. Return to Step 1 if the locks do not cycle at this point.

5. Perform these steps within 40 seconds:

a. Press any button on the transmitter for 1 second or more. Within 3 seconds, the door locks should cycle (lock then unlock) once indicating successful programming. If the door locks do not cycle, or cycle twice, repeat this step – your remote has not been accepted.

b. Close then open the door once.

c. Press any button on the transmitter for 1 second or more. Within 3 seconds, the door locks should cycle (lock then unlock) once indicating successful programming. If the door locks do not cycle, or cycle twice, repeat this step – your remote has not been accepted.

Close driver door.

any ideas??

Hi,

I also did the same Activation Procedure......I tried time after time....know it off by heart

Its going to cost you best part of £250 from a Lexus dealers for the replacement parts in the boot and for a new key  then after all that you will find that the range very poor from the car..

You could have a thatcham Cat 1 alarm fitted for £300....have more alarm/de arm range and a discount on your insurance ;)

cheers chips.

I supose my question is that the right procedure if so ill give it a go.

I have got the key with a button on the side ridge of it and theres a switch in the car to diable the remote locking with that on the button does nothing.

I have only just got the car and the drivers door lock does not lock all doors, But it does open all doors with the key lock if i use the switch on the drivers door it works fine so im assuming a switch issue on the drivers door and maybe a reporgram of the key to the car
