just came back from having a new screen fitted, but it is making a noise, sounds like rattling or crackling, it's coming from all over it, i'll give it a day or two to see if it is the seal settling or something, if not, they can try again.

I'd tell them now, if you leave it a few days they will claim the problem happened after and they are not at fault.

when i had my windscreen replaced a few months back, i watched the chap like a hawk!!

too many times have i heard about glass fitters cutting corners, etc.

it sounds as if they havn't used enough sealent perhaps....would explain the rattling noise. or possibly some loose shards of glass caught in the surrounds???

i didn't notice it on the drive home as i had my sounds on, i just did a visual check to make sure there was no damage. i'll take it out tomorrow, if it's still making the noise, i'll give my ins company a call.

it turns out the noise was the squeaky clean new glass and the clean rubber external seal moving slightly against each other when going over bumps, the glass then amplifying the sound, the seal was gently lifted and lubricant sprayed between the glass and the rubber, the sound has now gone (thanks to toyota forum. and the apparently common windsreen problem on the avensis)
