Auto Express -driver Power 2006

Just got this weeks Auto Express. Looks like the old IS is still a firm favorite. It's been voted the best compact executive, and is 7th overall. Not bad really considering it's age.

Also Build quality - 2nd , and Reliability - 3rd. Comfort, Ride, and Ease of Driving are in top 10 too.

And to cap it all, Lexus are top manufacturer :) :)

Mind you, running costs are 76th (out of 100), but no surprise there.

Id rate the old IS200 / IS300 higher than the new one. Its got a lot more character as a car as well!

I haven't driven the new one yet, but from all I've read about it here and elsewhere, I expect I'll agree with you.

Not driven the new IS either but from what i have seen i prefer the old one but i will wait until i drive one. I have said it before, mk1 IS looks a lot more aggressive and also has as stated above, more character.

Ive got that issue and it did make interesting reading. Specialy as the IS got best Compact Executive above the old and new BMW 3 series :D

As for the new IS, as much as they have grown on me and I like them alot, the older IS exterior for sure is alot nice. Just still looks different on the road to anything else.
