New Wheels For Ls400

Any feedback appreciated as I am totally ignorant when it comes to anything slightly technical.

I have a 1999 LS400 and currently have the standard (?) 16" wheels with 225/60/16 tyres. My queries are

1. Can 17" wheels be fitted without any adjustment? and

2. What offset (et) should I be looking at? I believe the standard is 50mm (?) therfore assume a 45mm offset will be okay ?

Many thanks

Welcome to the LOC money pit :D

Why not look at an 18" x 8.5" at the front with a 235/35/18 and a 18" x 9.5" at the rear with 265/35/18 rubber - will look stunning and handle well.

Your offset is correct, 38 to 50 will work.

Hi and Welcome to the LOC :)

You want to be as near to the 50mm offset as possible with your replacement alloys as they can rub on the front wheel arches when braking or cornering,45mm offset should be ok.

I went from 15s (standard size on the earlier models) to 245/40/18s front and rear, noticed more grip firmer ride and slightly more road noise.

Make sure you get new wheel nuts with your alloys as your standard wheel nuts might not fit your new alloys.

Cheers chips..
