Wind Noise

Hi,

I've just joined this excellent forum, it helped me decide to finally buy an is200 over other choices. The look of the website is great it seems like a lot of hard work has gone into it!

Anyway my question is that I am getting quite a lot of wind noise at 60 mph +. Is there anything available to reduce it? I have a 2001 is200SE.

Also I read in a previous message that someone took their car 95 mph in third gear ... i cant get above 80 - 85 before redlining and hittting the limiter (not that i try it too often! )

95 mph is 4th at red line ...apparently

Hi welcome to the club, mine is also a 2001 IS200, but i havn't noticed any wind problems at any speed. In fact it is one of the things my wife and I first noticed, how very quiet it is at speed, and how you can have a conversation without SHOUTING

I think the IS suffers from a lot of tyre noise because of those 17 inch wheels (a small price to pay for the great looks) but thats the only noise I hear on the motorway.

Sorry I forgot to say - Welcome to the club!

I use Linkin Park or Third Day played loud and that seems to deal with the tyre noise.

Yeah I guess its more the tyres than anything... I used to have a VW before and it seem to be more quiet but then it did have lots of other annoying rattles which this car does not have... I think I'll take the advice and crank up the volume on the stereo! ... the engine note is very pleasing though!
