i have a 1999 is 200, when first starting the ignition and ocasionally when accelerating there is an irritating noise of what sounds like running water or petrol........is this common. also when first running the car there is faint rattle which lasts for about one mile then stops....dont thing it is the engine or exhaust as it does not differ in pitch when accelerating...any ideas ??????

the running water sound is probably a slight airlock in the heater matrix (point car up-hill, turn heaters to warm and check coolant level, wait for it to cool though). Rattle probably is exhaust, or more specifically the cat'
