Fuel Flap

I have read here about sometimes fuel nozzles at petrol stations not flowing well, and sometimes you have to move them around and stuff.

Well yesterday I did that ant my local shell garage and in my cack-handed way managed to break the spring that flips open the flap! :(

The nice folks at Lex. Canterbury fixed it up for me and said "Oh I have done that too"

Was he just being nice to me or has anyone else managed this feat?

Haven't done anything like that, but depending on the pump I do find the nozzle has to go in just right and requires a bit of adjusting to prevent it continually stopping when it thinks it's full.

However on my Altezza, I find it curious there's no hook to hang the fuel cap on whilst I'm filling it. Is that the same on the UK spec IS200? Even my old Pug 306 had a fuel cap hook!

I haven't got a hook on mine......... I have a holder to put the cap into on the flap......... was that on older IS's.........?

Most be on the older models, I just have a hook to hang the lead attached to the cap over.

Yes I sprang mine too.

Lexus Hadleigh fixed it for me.

It's the worst bit of design on the car because all you need to do is open the fuel cap too wide and the spring pops.

Yes mine had the holder which was very usfull. I always wondered why it was no longer fitted on the newer loan cars I had.

never done that tho.
