Gs300 Cold Start

:tsktsk:

When it is a reasonably warm day I jump into the GS300 Mk1 and it starts instantaneously :D

When it is a bit cold (this morning 6:15) and I really wanting to go somewhere for the day, it turns over and over and over and will not start, this has happened 3 or 4 times now and is making me a bad tempered miserable old git (wifeys comment at 6:25 this morning)

I leave the car until the day warms up and away it starts first time and goes brilliant :D

Just for the record it has new plugs, HT leads, distributor cap, all nicely doused in WD40, and the head gasket is 100% since I replaced it and skimmed the head, the NO2 system is not connected

I checked this morning and there is a fantastic spark to the plugs

It is just like there is no choke, no cold start at all

Is there a temperature sensor and control for cold start ? what controls the cold start ?

Please help as the wife has threatened to divorce me for moaning and having tantrums in the early mornings

Hi folks just thought I would share this with you

As above loads of problems cold starting, I just couldn't find the problem at all

About 2 months ago I changed the Battery for a new one, well basically it was rubbish, as well as being a small one it had a problem and wasn't holding charge as it should have and although the engine turned a little slow on cranking the voltage was dropping

2 batteries are listed for the GS300, a 420 amp and a 570 amp, and although I asked for a heavy duty Battery they provided the smaller one

It seems that the ECU wasn't getting the right volts from the Battery on start up and didn't want to play, hence no start

New heavy duty Battery being fitted today under warranty and hopefully all will be well
