My New Grille And Wiper Blades

So i've finally bought and installed my new Sport grille...

took 10mins.

One thing i have noticed, is how the paint work has faded, the new grille, granite sky colour, is so much more... showrooom'y.

I think ill pop around to Halfords and pick up some wax and polish.

Another thing, the original grille seemed much more sturdy, better built, solid feeling to it, the sport one felt as though its about to fall apart in my hands. intresting!

the pictures arent great, the car is parked up to a wall, and i couldnt be bothered to start it and reverse it out for the pics.

Ive aslo bought and installed a pair of flat wiper blades...

these ones...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEXUS-IS200-FLAT-BEA...1QQcmdZViewItem

one thing i have noticed about the blades, the driver side blade is meant to be 22", but when i put it on and start the wipers, in its vertical position, it runs higher then the windsheild...

is it meant to be 22" or 21/20" ? anyone have that problem?

thanks for looking :)

nb: updated the phots, imagevenue is pants, imageshack works better

Exactly Jamie, no pics working for me, as is the E-Bay linky !

The IS200 wiper blades are 22" + 19" as standard.

I have warned members before about fitting the cheap flat blades from the bay.

Hope yours are ok mate as my Uncle bought a set because he didn't want to spend

the £28 for the proper Bosch Aerotwin Flat Blade wipers, one of his flew off on the

motorway @ 70mph two weeks after fitting, by the time he had stopped the wipers

a nice scratch from the steel wiper arm was across his windscreen...

but hey he did save £12 :tsktsk:

Was it the wipers fault or an uncle that couldn't fit wiper blades?

I've had the "cheap" flat blades running at higher speeds and no dettachment or hint of it so far. Having said that, If I'd realised bosch did them I would most likely have spent the extra on them. Although the last set of standard aero blade bosch ones I had were pish and stopped working properly after a few weeks. Swings and roundabouts I guess.

updated the photos, sorry about that.

Wozza, they seem to be working fine...

my initail thought about them being too long, i was mistaken.

i noticed something odd when sat in the car watching the wipers work.

when i stood outside and looked at them it was fine.

i hope these do hold out, i dont want anything falling off on me..

like Tigerfish, had i known Bosch did them, i might have cough up a bit more.

ill see how these do, if not, ill just replace them.

Pics working fine now matey, grill looks good.

eBay linky still out thou.

Re Uncle, he has 3 Jaguars, S-Type, XJS, & Daimler Sovereign.

Member of the Jaguar Owners Club, Club show winner with the old XJS.

He knows how to fit wipers, gearboxes & pretty much anything else.

He said they never seemed really secure like mine.

Maybe a bad batch ? Who knows ?

I'm just passing what happend with a cheaper flat blade set off the bay.

He just wished he'd bought the same as mine now. :shutit:

Wozza, guess what happened!

flew off at 60mph on a country lane while ****** it down this morning, lovely scratch on the shield now.

just frustrated i didn't catch any of the warnings on the forum about them blades before i bought them, i would happily gone for the Bosch ones had i known.

Lesson Learn't: Before purchasing any car product, run a forum search!

Although i would love to blame the blades completely it would be a little unfair to, as it seems my wiper arm is rusting and had weakened.

I'm certain this is a jinx I'm cursed with, i have yet to own a car that has proper functioning wiper blades, and this is my 5th car!

well off to Halfords now!

I am really sorry to hear that matey, I did post about what happened to my Uncle,

I bet yours were fitted correctly too mate as were my Uncle's. I am just glad mine

are still on and I paid the extra dosh.

Did the blade fly off on its own or was the arm to blame ? Was the hook at the end

weakened as if not it was prob the blade matey.

Don't go to Halfrauds unless you have a bank loan !!!! :winky:

Just got back from Halfords, bought a pair of Bosch standard blades for £18.99, rip off price compared to Bosch ones on eBay.

I had another look at the wiper arm, even though the tip/clip end of the wiper arm has rusted, its kept its rigidity and so i can now only blame the blades.

on closer inspection, it appears that is was infact the plastic adapter, the fits all models clip that broke into 3 pieces, the actual blade looks fine.

its a shame, as not only has it wasted me money, but now also scratched my windshield.

ahh well, live and learn.

So don't try this at home children, if you want to avoid nasty scratches

on your windscreen, let a grown up buy the Bosch Aerotwin wipers for you.

Ahh mate soz I'm only kidding. I feel for ya cos I would be so gutted.

The Windscreen excess is a lot to pay if a large stone happened to crack it :winky:
