European Maps In A Car From Usa

Recommended Posts

best bet may be take it to a dealer and ask them to try one, on the pretence you going to buy a disc off them. I see no real reason why it shouldn't as the disc contains all the software as well as maps, but you never know. With most sat nav's, even fitted ones you buy a disk for the country you are travelling to, so therefore you should in theory be able to buy a disk from anywhere and it should work, but there is the danger it has to be sourced from the originating country. Therefore if it doesn't work, contact a Lexus delaer in USA for a European disk.

I cant see why not, gps is gps it's an american standard and from what i understand it tends to be the same hardware as you would find in a euro car. unless they region lock the players. best bet will be to tip up at a garage and ask them if you can give it try.

or buy the euro disc from a USA dealer.

well , i am trying to figure this one out myself. have 2006 400h bought from US. The dealer in the us say they can not order the european disc.

There are different part numbers for the nav screen and the dvd computer here in scandinavia compared to US. norway lexus wants 12.000 euro (yes, you can read it over and over) to exchange this two parts. like 1/4 of the cars value for navigation.

So i am trying to find out if this is dvd region thing, Pal/NTSC, and what really puzzles me is that the screen needs to be changed. I tried cantacting Lexus.com without any respond. The US dealer could not help and norway dealer can go somewhere else. (fjord maybe)

So I am hoping that the admin guys could pull all the US navi question/posts together and that way figure it out??
