Paintwork Failure?

For the last twelve months no amount of polishing would remove many small marks on my roof or bonnet. These are about 3 to 10mm long by .05mm wide and are irregular in shape.

I called upon the local bodywork specialsit and he was positive that the paint was failing. The fault was caused by (probably) a too thick layer which would not flex with the metal of the bodywork.

My 300SE is six years old and I am well displeased that a marque renowned for its quality should suffer this type of failure.

I am seeing a rep from the paint suppliers soon so I might be abye to shed more light on this.

Meanwhile, has anybody out there got ant suggestions or comments or similar experience?

Lexus have no recored of any resprays.

Have you had the car from new? If not, then there is also everychance that the car has a small spray up job by the previous owner.

That's one of the pitfalls in this type of thing. It could have been a backstreet sprayjob - so no Lexus records of it.

If you've had it from new then I would suggest you get LGB involved and see if it gets you anywhere (and I wouldn't trust what a previous owner might say if you ask them now...)
