Hi,

First post for me.

I've been looking for an LS for the past 12 months and finally got one last week, a 1997 with 72k on the clock and full Lexus service history. It's a lot different from the Twin Turbo Supra I have been driving for the past 5 years but I am fully appreciating the ride comfort and the silence on my motorway journeys and really enjoying the new car.

The LS was still on it's original Timing Belt so I booked it in with Lexus Reading to have that replaced and they very kindly checked the car over to see if there was anything else they could charge me for while it was there.

They have highlighted that the Front Anti roll Bushes are worn and from reading other posts on here it looks a fairly straightforward job so I plan to change them myself in the spring (They quoted £220 to replace them).

They also highlighted that the Front Tie Bar Bushes are perished but I cannot find any mention of Tie Bar bushes on any other posts. They have quoted over £400 to replace them but are they fairly easy to replace and what sort of cost would the parts be to do them myself. I intend to use Lexus parts and don't want to go for Poly bushes.

They are called various names: tie rods/tie bars/radius arms/strut rods. Mine cost £81 each two years ago. Don't think the job is that difficult, but suspension geometry and tracking will have to be checked afterwards.

Any road up, enjoy your new car!

Thanks for the help, it looks as if most of the cost from Lexus is for the labour then.

I will put some photo's up on here of the car but it's the wrong time of the car to try and show it off. I've only had it a week, I've been driving to work in the dark, driving home in the dark and have barely had a chance to look at it much myself.

I'll wait until the spring when I can get out there, go over it with a claybar, give it a couple of coats of wax and then really make it shine. Then I'll take some photo's and post them up on here.
