New Owner With A Few Questions

I have recently purchased an early 1998 (I think this makes it a Mk3 ) Ls400 and have a few questions.

1) The car appears to have reversing sensors. The car has the small sensors in the rear bumper. The guy that I brought the car from told me that he never used the reversing sensors as he did not trust them. I cannot find any buttons to press to activate the sensors and nothing beeps when I reverse. Should there be a button somewhere for me to press to activate the reversing sensors?

2) The only fault the car appears to have is that the paint is peeling off of the trim down the side of the windscreen (on the outside). I have ordered (and received) the replacement pieces of trim from my local Lexus dealer (who kindly lightened my wallet by £72 per side) however can anyone advise me whether the windscreen needs to be removed for these pieces of trim to be replaced?

3) The car still has the amber indicators on the sides and built into the front bumpers. Can anyone advise me where I can clear replacements and the amber bulbs to go with them?

I would first check that they have been wired up - these days most parking sensors only need one connection which is to the reverse lights of the car - I have reverse sensors fitted on mine and find them really helpful - the only problem is at the moment one of the sensors has packed up and i need to remove the bumper to replace it - so i shall be watching this thread with interest
