Interior Materials

Hi chaps,

I looked round an IS200 today and came away mostly impressed, but I was surprised regarding the interior quality - the Fabia VRS and Fiesta ST I looked at later on in the day had more soft-touch plastics inside! In particular, I thought the plastics down by the handbrake were very cheap , and even the dashboard lacked the soft-touch materials that frequent VAG/BMW models. Not what you expect from a Lexus!

Didn't have a test-drive, but will have one nearer the time I am looking to buy (September-ish). Can't fault the design of both the exterior and interior - both are spot on IMO.

What do you guys think to the interior quality? Or was I expecting too much?

The interior of the IS is a bit like Marmite.. You either love it or loathe it.. Personally I love it.. The Skoda is a cracking car but plenty of niggles with all VAG cars.. I never got why soft touch materials were perceived as quality... No squeeks or rattles on my IS B)

Don't get me wrong, from a design point of view I think it's one of the nicest looking interiors out there - just the perceived quality seemed lower than expected. I am a big hater of rattles in cars so lets hope all IS's are like yours!

The IS is the 'heart' car, with the VRS being the 'head' choice. Will have to see in a few months which I prefer. Ideally I'll find a SE/Sport IS registered on 28/02/2001

no rattles in mine either, personally if i had the choice between the two cars your thinking of, the IS would win hands down

every time!
