Servicing; Great Place To Service Your Is In The South.

Hello all! I am a long time reader and first time writer on this forum, it's been an excellent source of information for me and yes I will be upgrading to Gold status soon.

Anyway the reason I'm posting this little note is because I have been anticipating the cost of my servicing. My car is an IS200 SE on a 51 plate, and although it's only done 50,000 miles it is of course due a 6 year service. The biggie! My closest local dealer is in Poole as I live in Dorchester in the deepest darkest South. Whilst the dealership was excellent in terms of customer service, on the couple of times I've used them, their rough estimate was £900 for my service this time around. This really got me thinking and I was considering the possibility of making the trek to Hanley. However I thought of checking local garages for their quotes but it was really worrying me that they may not be familiar with Lexus and give me poor service. Anyway after a small amount of searching I came acroos The Dorchester Motor Company in the heart of my sleepy little town. So I took a drive down to see the guys and get an idea of their work ethic and I have to say I am very impressed indeed. The guys are a japanese specialist and deal with many IS's, they new exactly what would be required in the upcoming service and use only official parts. It was massively refreshing to come a cross an independant mechanic that didn't use sharp breaths and guestimates as a way of creating a quote. The guys were happy to chat and really inspired confidence.

So the moral of the story is there is a place out there (in the south) that can give you great service at an excellent price. Oh and the price thats the best bit the whole service has been done for under £400! I know this isn't an official dealer and of course I don't get a shiny Lexus stamp but as much as I would love that I can't ignore the price difference. Plus when I consider that I love my Lexus and will be keeping it for as long as humanly possible the extra benefit that a FSH would have given me at sale time is hugely out weighed by the monetary savings I will make along the way. So I heartily recomend the guys at the Dorchester Motor Company! Ihope this information helps some other Southern Lexus owners.

I am from Dorchester myself and have heard good things about these jap specialists. I havent used them myself, as I have done the past 8 services myself as there pretty straight forward, with almost 140k on the clock now FSH isnt going to add much value to my IS.

Well if you need to have any further work done I recommend you use them they were quite simply excellent. The best thing is they inspire real confidence you walk away knowing your car is in safe hands. Bottom line they provide a great, inspiring level of service for people who care about their cars. They have a customer for life in me! They even tightened my power steering belt for free as it would slip a little at low temps while under load.

Good to hear from another local IS owner there aren't many of us about.
