Air Intake/throttle Body

I have decided to give the air intake throttle body a clean sometime this week. From the info I have gathered there willl be a real noticeable improvement once done.

Took off the air filter holder and had a look at the visible part of the air intake/throttle body. I pushed the flap in and looked in there I think it could do with cleaning. Pulled the throttle cable to open the flap and it sounded noisy like it could do with some oil. Also I noticed it does not fully close when you release the cable, you have to push it in manually.

I was planning to use intake cleaner/carb cleaner something not too harsh to damage anything. Spraying it in there and giving it a going over with a toothbrush on both sides of the butterfly flap.

The only concern I have is if any of the carbon deposits or dirt fall inside the intake would it be harmful?

Hopefully after doing that and fitting the K&N air filter the car will run a lil better...

no oil is required in normal circumstances - you are actually moving a servo and as its geared does sound noisy. i have not had to look at my throttle body so cant comment if the flap should close all the way.

instead of using a toothbrush how about just using a bit of cloth soaked in cleaner instead?
