Thanks to every one who welcomed me to the club.

I have a 94 model year LS400 with 136K on the clock. I have noticed a slight leak on the drive. I got one of the techies at work to put it on the ramp the other week to check the leak out. He said the rear engine oil sump bolts were loose and re-torqued them. I can still see a few drops on the sump so I am not convinced this was the cause. I will get it back on the ramp when we get chance but in the meantime, does anyone know of a common oil leak on these?

Thanks :D

Hi

Power steering pump is the usual oil leak, it then drops onto the alternator and takes that out as well, the fix is a cheap "O" ring. The alternator is a lot of money though... check the oil isn't red as if it is its probably the above...

If its leaking from the sump then I would imagine just tightening the bolts wouldn't work, if its leaking oil out from where a gasket goes then it will get dirt and grit back under the sealing surface and then always leak to some extent. I think you would have to take it off, clean it up, and use a new gasket.

Good Luck

Pete

Thanks for that advice. Doesn't look like red oil on the drive but I will double check PAS pump when I get it on the ramp. :)
