Is200 Options

Recommended Posts

Has anyone considered fitting a centre armrest (as in the IS300 and IS200 auto) on a manual IS200? I queried this when placing my order with the dealer and was told it is too much of a big job and they advise against it.

The other thing that irritates me is that you can not opt for full leather on an IS200 even though it is possible in other countries - such as Hong Kong.

Any comments?

Cheers

Steve

yeah the leather upholstery thing annoyed me too

would lexus reupholster the middle bits in leather if we asked, would it be expensive?

or does it cost a lot to have it done elsewhere? (but would that invalidate warranty for the seats upholstery?)

I can't imagine that Lexus would re-upholster the centre of the seat for you, so options would be to go to a specialist automobile upholstering company and get them to do it. Can't see that this would affect your warranty, except that if they have to remove the seats to re-upholster them, then any defect subsequently arising as a result of the seats being inciorrectly re-fitted would be an issue.

Alternatively, you could try buying the IS300 seats from Lexus and retro fitting them.... but I imagine that's gonna be a scary amount of money! :o

Great idea - this would leave you with the spare seats which were replaced with the purchased IS300 ones. These could then be used as an alternative seating arrangement in your living room or office to give maximum Lexus satisfaction even when you're not in it.

...and should be possible to fit a mains adapter/transformer to the old '200 seats so that you can still electronically recline them etc., when yer mates come round or the other half is feeling amorous! B) :yahoo:

A lot of money I'm sure!

As UKPulse mentioned the best and cheapest bet is probably to get a specialist car upholstering company. I've seen other cars such as Mercs and BMW that have been converted from cloth to full leather and they did an excellent job, for less than the option for full leather on the new car.
