Dear Members,

I lost the only key for my 1994 GS300. Obviously asked the dealer and the person over the phone said to me the best thing i have to do is find the same key. Because new1 wil cost me around a grand.

I tried my best but could not find the key. Then i called a locksmith and he said to me that he can make a new key for me for only 75 pounds. But ask me to take the driver side lock out and send it to him. I Send the lock to him and he send me the new key. Now today i check my new key but its not turning the ignition nor its opening the boot. So i called the locksmith and tell him about the problem and they said if its turning the lock you send us then it should turn the ignition as well. So they can not do anything as they recon there is a problem with the lock.

Now i do not know what to do. Please some expert help me. As its been 3 months car is standing on the driveway. The key is just a key without any button on it.

Hello and welcome to the club.

Have you contacted the person that sold the car to you as you get two keys with the car from new.

Alot of people quote around £1000 but your more likely to spend £750 -£800 for a new key.

If interested there is a company in Southend that i can search for the number, drop me a pm if interested.

A very expensive lesson in making sure you have two keys for your car....

Hope you can get this sorted....

Ian

Thanks for your reply Ian

To be honest with you the car i have is worth around 800-1000 pound. So There is no point spending me that sort of money.

So i am looking for a cheaper option really.

When i bought the car i did ask the seller for spare key but he had only one key which i have lost

Hi,

I'm new here as well.

about your key problem.

The key the lock smith cut for you, How long is it??

Their are two lengths of key

one is about 5cm from the the plastic to the end and the other is about 4cm.

The 4cm one will only open the doors not boot or ignition.

If you remove the boot lock or the lock inside the car for locking the boot then the internals will be further down the barrel. If they make you a key for that then it would work in all locks.

I have spoken to another locksmith he said that he is going to charge me 40 pounds and he will make the key for me but for that he needs the code of the lock from lexus. So i want to know should i get the code from lexus and give it to him or not. Because i do not want to waist the money again. Locksmith said he needs nothing but code and he will make the key. Please reply Thanks
