Hi All

Im a bit of a cheat to be honest, I don't actually own an RX300, it's my fathers. I actually have a Corolla Verso, but hey they share the same steering wheel I suppose!

He picked up his December 2005/55 reg RX300 just over a week ago and he loves it. Bit of a shock with the old MPG (late teens/early twentys if hes lucky) and coming from a Jaguar X type diesel this is a real eye opener.

But the reason for this thread is a couple of things. It has some sensors underneath the front bumper, what are these for? Not sure if it has adaptive cruise control or not but this might explain them.

Also the car has 2 toggle switches, probably added later. One is on the panel where the ext mirror controls are, when you switch it on it beeps for about a second stops momentarily then continuously beeps, same beep as the reverse parking sensors. The other switch is underneath the indicator stalk on the steering wheel cowling. When switched on this will beep for a second or two then stop.

Has anyone got any idea what these are for, like I say they have probably been added later but they seem proffessionaly fitted.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Wayne

Welcome to LOC :)

Sounds interesting, any pics of the sensors you're talking about under the bumper? I don't think the RX has front parking sensors, is it possible the previous owner had some fitted to the front and the switch turns them on and off?

Might be worth switching them on and walking around the front of the car to see if it starts beeping.......

I don't think the RX has adaptive cruise so that can't be it, that first switch you mentioned, does it just keep beeping continuously or does it stop eventually?

The car has what looks like factory fitted front sensors, same as the ones in the rear bumper. Thinking about it, the car does have the wiring for a Road Angel hard wired into it, (the wire comes out from behind the A pillar onto a Road Angel mount) wonder if its something to do with that.

The beeper that doesn't stop, we have never left it on for more than 20 seconds but it just went on continuously, we have tried walking in front of all the sensors whilst its beeping but it makes no odds.

Something else the car has hard wired in is an ipod connection.

Cheers

Do you need to switch on those front parking sensors or do they work all the time? (didn't think the RX had front sensors but guess I was wrong!)

If he had a road angel, is it possible he may have also had a laser detector/jammer under the front bumper and that's what one of the switches might be for?
