how much oil is needed for oil change on the IS??

5 litres???

4.2ltrs with filter for the manual models

4.1ltrs with filter for the auto models :)

The book actually states it takes less without filter but if your putting it in without a filter it'll just p :tsktsk: ss back out :whistling::tomato:

£6 something for a Mahl filter delivered from Camskill.

Is the Mahl filter is any good? They are German made filters right? I normally use the OEM oil filter- I tried a TRD oil filter; found it was no better than a OEM one, so I've gone back to OEM.

Most places will tell you Mahl are as good as OEM, i've never had any trouble with mine car feels just as good as it did with a Toyota filter on, the garage where I get my MOT done only use Mahl and reackon you can't really beat them even with OEM.
