Garage / Mechanic Recommendation - Harpenden Area

Hullo all

Was annoyed to find our 56 plate LX300 had a crack and a dent in the rear bumper (next to the rear reversing light) when we emerged into the supermarket car park last week. Only about 3cm long and about 2cm pushed in. Mrs B was at the Lexus garage today re the service which is also due and asked for a quote. Was told it would be cheaper to replace the entire bumper(!), and cost incl respraying and labour would be c. £600!

I can't believe it should cost this - am assuming it's only cheaper to bin the entire bumper if you've lots of technicians not very busy and are chargnig their time out at extortionate rates. Anyway, moaning session over - does anyone know of a decent ex-Lexus mechanic in the Harpenden / St Albans / Luton area, or failing that a decent mechanic who is good on bodywork.

Now you know why the Lexus technicians use gold plated tools...I guess we are lucky they are not SOLID GOLD :shutit:

I suggest you try one of the franchise types...like "Dents Away".....they specialise in that very damage.

I had my RX front bumper repiared last weekend by my local chap, my 710 had scraped the rear side panel of a collegues Fiesta in her work car park, it did £980 damage to his car......the RX had some paint scraped of the bumper but no sign of physical damage to the bumper and it cost me £100 to have the area repaired, a quote from my Lexus bodyshop was in the region of £800 just to repair and respray the area :duh:
