Shaking Engine

Hi all,

Had to leave my is200 behind on a nearby parking lot this morning :(

Was driving along fine, almost home when the whole car started stuttering like crazy, turned the engine down, ignition on again and it was doing a shaky idle.

Parked it, popped the hood, ignition and saw the engine shaking, electrical warning light on dash (next to abs) came up.

So prolly a cylinder or multiple that's being injected but doesnt burn *****, id have to guess, any of this sound familiar to you guys ?

It starts fine tho, so it's not anything with the fuel, prolly something electric, gonna let some mechanics pick it up monday mornin.

Could well be a coil pack failure causing misfires. If you can get the diagnostic codes via a code reader that should help narrow it down.

Ain't got such a reader, wish i had.. toyota mechanic will have one with him on monday.

Any online retailer in the uk u guys know of that sells those diagnostic readers btw ? could be nice to have myself.

Plenty on eBay. Look for OBD2 reader.

they are only £20-£30 well worth it though

I've got a reader like this one (loads of sellers offer the same unit). Well worthwhile, could save you loads of money if you can diagnose and fix stuff yourself.
