Air/fuel Ratio

:nuke: What does it mean when my car is running to lean? To much air or not enough air and does anyone know how to fix this.

Thanks in advance!

Lean is too much air (or too little fuel), rich is too little air (or too much fuel).

If you're running lean there may be an air leak somewhere - check to see if you're hoses are all in good condition and that none of them has come off.

Why do you think your car is running lean??

The dealer told me it was running lean when they plugged there computer in. They said it was running at 45% at full throttle and it should be at 5%, that's all they said and they wouldn't work on it until I put the stock intake back on.

If you have changed the induction, then chances are the ECU won't accomodate for the extra air-flow with enough fuel, thus you will run lean.

Is your car under warranty still? If you want them to service it, then they might be being picky, but it's their call if you have changed parts that are affecting it's normal operation. You could of course go to a specialist tuner/garage to get a service.

You can run lean (you'll actually find you're running lean at low revs and rich at high revs probably) without too many problems, but if you want to get the best performance out of your mods, you're going to need to get a doohicky (technical term :winky:) to adjust the air/fuel ratio or even better, get a piggy back ECU to also control ignition timing B))

Welcome to the club by the way. What have you done to your car? :shifty:
