Reversing Camera Not Working

Just bought a dec 93 LS430. the reversing camera doesnt seem to be working. The screen works fine for all other applications and when reverse is selected the reversing lights work and the screen shows the green parking guidance lines. Apart from that is is blank/dark. Is there a quick fix or way to identify what part is at fault, the camera or the ecu in the boot. Any comments or help greatley appreciated.

Sounds as if the camera lens is obscured. Might sound a silly question but it's not covered with snow is it?

Tried that first, I also thought the low tempratures may have had an effect but its above freezing today and still not working.

Can you go back to wherever you purchased it for them to sort it?

Intermitted issues with LS430 rear back-up camera.

When the car is started and placed in reverse the screen appears black/blank. However if I wait 30 seconds the camera image will come on and stay on for all subsequent reverse positions until switched off. If however the car is driven within the first 30 seconds of being in reverse the camera stays off permenantly when placed in reverse. I am tending towards this being an ECU computer control module in the boot issue, since the camera itself appears to be working. Has anyone had this issue before, whether they have seen a service bulletin for this, or whether it can be confirmed as an ECU replacement issue?

(04) LS 430 145k with PCS in UK, and an (04) LS 430 83k with Ultra Luxury Package & PCS in Florida USA.

There have been past reports of the cameras failing, try warming up the camera with a hairdryer before it's 1st use and see if it comes on immediately instead of the 30 second delay, if it does chances are it's the camera.
