Finance Termination

Has anybody experience of terminating their finance agreement. I have had my 220d since Nov 2007 and paid the required payments now I want to give the car back. I'm just curious as to what Lexus would call fair wear and tear against delapidation costs. I do have stone chips having done 53000 mls in 30 months I think of it as normal use, what would lexus say? What are their costs for making good like.

I'd appreciate any feedback.

I gave our Porsche back and they mentioned a slight tear on the roof - but didn't ever get a repair bill for it. It is all down to the finance company not Lexus to decide what they think is fair, a few stone chips isn't much for a a car with 50K on its clock IMHO.

Make sure you follow the person who collects it round as he/she will inspect the car to ascertain its condition, anything they miss they can't then claim for at a later date.

Just because they mark down a chip here or there doesn't mean they will charge for it either, it is down to overall condition. If the car is so dirty they can't see the paint then they will have cause to claim later though, I gave the last car back with 1 weeks road dirt on it so the worst chips were slightly disguised.

The car will go to an auction house 9 times out of 10 and be sold on very quickly, it doesn't physically go back to your dealer or to the finance company.

Ex IS250 owner here just browsing the site now and then. I terminated my finance early and they send a booklet with what is ok and what is not - they were very fair. Search for my old post as I think I detailed the process in it.

The car was picked up yesterday (56k miles in two and a half years)and inspected and very fair can't complain at all although any charges are yet to be announced by Lexus finance. The booklet published by the BVRLA was very useful. So the 220D has gone and I'm now in a BMW320D doing 56mpg on the same run that the Lexus got 40mpg. I actually took the beemer back to Sytner in Solihull because I wasn't happy with the wear on the front tyres as the car had only done 3175 miles. No problem 4 new tyres and 4 new wheels = 1 happy chappie.

I would not be that happy looking at the Sh1tty inside of the BM ;)
