Slick 50 Hype Or Helpful

Recommended Posts

Hello all , im sure this is bound to be contraversial but i have always stuck a bottle of slick 50 in any car i intend to keep for a while - there is a lot of debate as to whether or not it works and as to is the new formula as good as the original.

Having spent a lot of money servicing my lex recently it seems a bit sacriligious to pour a bottle of slick 50 in there but i have allways been very impressed by its use in other cars - i have never tried the one for fully synthetic oil though and am interested to hear from anyone who has as to their thoughts.

Fuel economy on the lexus is obviously not its strongest point and i think that slick 50 could pay for itself very quickly on this car just on fuel saving costs alone even if it improves economy by 5 percent.

I would also like to stress that i am not advocating its use - so please do not rush out and stick it in your car chasing better mpg figures - as there is a school of thought that argues strongly against its use for various reasons.

I have always liked the product and would welcome any members thoughts or experiences on this subject

If it is so great, then why don't the oil manufacturers use it in their oils? When Slack50 was first introduced years ago they said that you could drive your car for miles with no oil once treated... Practical Mechanics magazine put it to the test alongside a car that had not been treated.....No difference

This kind of stuff is snake oil, designed to part folk who believe what the marketing men tell them from their hard earned....
