My First Lexus, Can I Do The Following?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm about to get my first Lexus, a 2002 RX300. Its immaculate inside and out, has only 42,000 miles on the clock + full Lexus service history, and all for £5200! What I want to know is will it accomodate the Parrot 9200 MKI easily as I know (after much searching around) you can't swap out the fitted radio without stuffing the climate controls and I need Bluetooth handsfree and an iPod connection as I'm a business owner and often take calls in the car. Also does it accomodate third party speakers as replacements because I'm stripping the Focals out of my old Scenic RX4 before I part-ex it and having some cheap Sonys put in to replace them.

And finally, how much would I expect to pay for an LPG conversion with dohnut tank in the spare wheel well?

Sorry for the raft of questions, but I'd like to get all of the work done pretty soon after I take ownership (hopefully late next week) and want to start planning the fitting of these items so I can get it all out of the way and enjoy my new car.

Hi

Justcarkits.co.uk do a harness that plugs into your amp for connecting the parrot mk9200. For ipod playback via all speakers, I would recommend SoundlinQ2, Model SL2Vi from www.vaistech.com

Thanks, now all I have to look for is a good UK Lexus spares supplier as I need a new L\H rear light cluster (both parts)as the one it came with has a crack over both sections. I always say that when you get a used car (especially a bargin like this)you have to spend about £1000 to bring it up to standard. It even has 5 differant tyres, all in various states of wear!

I bought a Lexus RX 300 just over 6 months ago & all the tyres needed replacing.

If you book Kwik-fit or ATS online tyres are much cheaper, especially if you are having the whole lot done (saved at least 30% on quality winter tyres). Amazing car wish I had bought one years ago like gold dust to find second-hand!

The LPG conversion will cost anywhere between £1800-£2500.....most installers using the best Prins or BRC system will be around £2200, don't skimp on the system or the installation unless you want loads of grief after, also make sure the installer recommends a "flashlube" system fitted at the same time, if he doesn't then he doesn't know what hes doing on the Lexus and its time to walk away an find another installer.
