Trying To Find Out How To Adjust The Headlights Vertically (2001 Gs 43

Recommended Posts

I bought a 2001 GS 430 about 6 months back and it's missing both fog lights, I don't know if it's directly related to that or not but it's nearly impossible to see the road at night with this car. However it lights up all the high mounted billboards on the highway perfectly. That LED me to believe that I had a misalignment issue and to fix that there are two screws with a little "level" right near each bulb, which I assumed was how I changed the height of the beam. Doing that however didn't seem to change the height of the beam at all and I have no clue how I can do it. I tried a forum search and found some references to changing the height but nothing about how to do it. Does anyone have an idea on that? I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks

Are you sure your car hasn't got the auto-level mechanism? This is generaly the case if you have the HID light option. These types have a self-leveling mechanism, located at the rear wheels. I believe a dash warning light should warn, when this mechanism fails. Check this first pls.

In case you have standard lighting, there's also a manual levelknob in the car. There should be two knobs available near the bulbs. If I recall correct, the one closest adjust height, the other sideways.

Fog lights are not required to see the mainbeam, as they beam under fog-particles. However, some 'adjust' them to fill the gap between headlights and car, but you should def. be able to see a beam on the road from the main headlights.
