Slipping Clutch

I wanted to ask if anyone has experience of this problem.

I work overseas occasionally, and the last few time I have first driven the car on return it feels like an awful lot of revs are required to get the thing rolling. I know it's not a slipping clutch but that is a reasonable comparison.

I've noticed say 2000rpm to get the car up to 5mph. It occurs only for the first quarter mile or so, but I wonder if it maybe thin gearbox oil or transmission fluid?

Hallo mate,

Sounds like a prime candidate for a fluid flush and change. Clean out the filter as well, thats prob all gunged up. Havent had this prob with the lex, but have with other cars. And your right, ATF fluid kind of 'thins' with age. You can normally tell thats happening by a slight colour change in the fluid.

also it could be brakes binding maybe after being left parked up for a while-worth checking
